Adi Loraini Baleilomaloma Kasainaseva

Landscape Management Technician, Pacific Community (SPC), Land Resource Division (LDC), Fiji

Loraini is originally from the Island of Vanua Balavu, Fiji and is currently working as a Landscape Management Technician, under the Sustainable Forest and Landscape Management program of the Land Resource Division (LRD) in the Pacific Community (SPC), an international organisation that provides scientific, technical and development support to the Pacific Island Countries and Territories.

Her work involves drafting national forestry policy and guidelines, fieldwork implementing land restoration and watershed management activities and contributing to strategy development for national sustainable forest and land management. Loraini is passionate about conserving and protecting the unique natural resources of Fiji and its neighbouring Pacific Island countries. She contributes by using her scientific knowledge and skills to promote sustainable forest management and sustainable agriculture practices.

Two perspectives on gender equity

Since the Meryl Williams Fellowship brought them together in 2020 Mere Naivola and Loraini Baleilomaloma Kasainaseva have become part of a strong Pacific network. Here, they share their experiences of working in the agricultural sector and how they are championing change.
