Dr Seeseei Molimau-Samasoni

Seeseei is the Manager for the Plants & Postharvest Technologies Division in the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa. She leads research implementation both in the laboratory and is involved in liaising with partner Ministries within Samoa, including the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, and the Ministry of Health. At times, Seeiseei is required to report directly to the Minister of SROS and to the Prime Minister of Samoa.

A passionate believer in Samoa’s potential in postharvest and natural products research, Seeseei strives to publish robust scientific data in research journals and to develop Samoa’s reputation in the field.

Seeseei graduated from the University of Newcastle Australia with a Faculty Medal, and a Bachelor of Biotechnology with First Class Honours. She graduated from the Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand with a Doctoral Degree in Molecular Bioscience, and has been to Australia, New Zealand and the US for various postharvest trainings.

Seeseei has been with the SROS since 2009 and played a key role in acquiring international accreditation for biological testing through the International Accreditation New Zealand in 2011.  In 2017, Seeseei helped convene the Breadfruit Summit, which included participants from the Africas and the Americas. Seeseei has also acted as country coordinator for several ACIAR and FAO funded projects.

Her core skills include postharvest experimental design and implementation, genomic-, proteomic- and systems biology experimental design and implementation, data analyses, and building both local and overseas research collaborations.

When she can, Seeseei loves to read murder mystery fiction novels. She also enjoys spending pool and beach time with her 9-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. Seeseei enjoys baking and eating Italian and Mexican foods.
