Dreesti Wasti is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management at Purbanchal University with more than 5 years’ experience teaching at various institutions.
As the only female faculty member in her college, Dreesti is a champion for women in agricultural sciences. She has also served as Director for the Leo Club of Bharatpur (Lions Clubs International) with which she has been involved for the past 8 years gaining several accolades and awards.
As a leader, Dreesti is committed to continuous learning and is adept at team-building and strategic planning.
In 2019 Dreesti completed her master’s degree MSc. Ag in Agribusiness Management from Agriculture and Forestry University, Chitwan, Nepal. She was drawn to the field of agriculture science because of inspiration from her grandmother who despite being over 80 still works on her farm in the country-side taking care of a huge tea estate and acting as a social leader with two book publications under her belt “Meri Aama Nepal Part 1 and Part 2).
Dreesti’s own academic publications include: “Economics of Rooftop Vegetable gardening in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal; Resource Use Efficiency of Orthodox Tea in Illam Nepal and lastly value Chain Analysis of Orthodox Tea in Illam Nepal.”
Dreesti is a passionate explorer of the natural world and makes time to sneak away from the pressures of work to hike in her homeland. She has visited the remotest parts of Nepal - 70 districts out of 77 including Dopla, Mugu, Kalikot, Rolpa and explored its natural beauties. A sports enthusiast Dreesti loves watching football and cricket.
