Fajrina Nur (Rina)

Seed Research Manager, PT. EAST WEST SEED INDONESIA 

Rina is a senior researcher in seed pathology, enhancement, production and physiology in Indonesia, with additional experience conducting biofertilizer research in Malaysia.

Throughout her career Rina has collaborated on and led projects in the private, public and non-profit sectors, including work with Bogor Agricultural University, the Institute of Technology Bandung,  Applied Research and Innovation Systems in Agriculture (ARISA), Incotec, Wageningen University and Plant Research International. 

As a scientist, Rina is naturally curious and loves to take the initiative to explore new things. Her proudest moments are those where she can see her research turning into impact, where research outputs are applied and result in real benefits to her organisation and to Indonesian farmers.  

In 2005 Rina was awarded a StuNed scholarship to strengthen her expertise in seed health management at Plant Research International, Wageningen, The Netherlands.

When she set out to investigate vegetable consumption trends in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic, researcher Nur Fajrina (Rina) thought the work could be helpful in ensuring future food production and security. She didn't expect to also highlight a significant health issue.
