Dr. Janet Pandi
Principal Scientist, National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI), PNG
Dr. Pandi is a senior scientist skilled in poultry nutrition, feed technology, general livestock production, animal health and disease, scientific data analysis, strategic planning, mentoring and team development. Her current focus is European Union funded project that develops community resilience and adaptation in the face of climate change.
Via a career in science research, Dr. Pandi has been able to contribute in a meaningful way to agricultural development in Papua New Guinea. A career highlight was contributing to the development of alternative feed rations for small holder livestock farmers in PNG which paved the way for local feed manufacturing by local businesses. The work resulted in an ACIAR monograph, a Feed Mill Manual and a database of PNG poultry feed nutrient profiles.
In 2010 Dr. Pandi established the PNG Chapter of the World Poultry Science Association (WPSA) and acted as President from 2010-2013. She completed her PhD at the University of Adelaide, South Australia in 2018, has published research in a number of agricultural science journals and presented at various international conferences.
Janet values her role as a mentor and is truly passionate about supporting the career progression of junior staff and researchers into rewarding careers in agricultural and animal sciences.
