Professor Lynn Rallos

Professor, Mindanao State University-General Santos City

Lynn is a professor of microbiology and plant pathology at the Mindanao State University-General Santos City.

Her key skills include: application of microbiological principles to product development, discovery research, training and mentoring on research, leading output-oriented teams, building up young scientific minds.

Lynn has participated as lead or team member in projects geared towards agricultural waste management, food security and safety, crop health, crop improvement through disease resistance and fungicide resistance management in crops.  She is now working on the operationalization of the Microbiology Analytical Laboratory of her University to service the food and feed industry of the SOCCSKSARGEN Region. She is also actively serving her University as associate editor of the Journal for Engineering, Environment and Agriculture Research (JEEAR) and as member of various committees including the Research Development Council, the International Affairs Committee and the Oversight Committee for the College of Medicine.

Lynn attended the University of the Philippines Los Banos for her undergraduate degree in Biology (major in microbiology) and her master’s in microbiology (cognate in plant pathology). She completed her PhD program in Applied Plant Pathology at Virginia Tech, USA.

Lynn is currently chair of the Science Department, where she leads an 18-strong faculty on the yearly implementation of the BS Biology program. She is also principal investigator for a research project on the Sigatoka pathogen complex in bananas - a collaboration with an industry partner.

Lynn enjoys assisting her spouse in empowering women weavers of Sarangani Province through social enterprise. She helps design handwoven products, seeks buyers for these products and engages once in a while in community building programs for women.  Her family runs a milktea franchise in the Tour Town of Glan, Sarangani, an hour away from the city, where she unwinds and relaxes during weekends.
